Unplaceable Loss

Something is missing,
its been lost or
hidden from my sight,
covered over so
not a single sense
can find it.
But I know its
gone.
Like taking a person wings
and making them forget
that they were
ever there,
i can still feel its absence.
I know,
like the former
winged one knows,
through the tingle
on the back of their
neck when the
wind blows,
or the ache
in their shoulders that
never goes
away.
They, like I,
know that something
is gone,
something that was
as much a part
of them as the
false reality
we have both
been thrown
into.
